A Scorecard is much more than a collection of tables and graphs. The commentary
should address the questions 'what is happening?', 'why is it happening?', 'What
is expected to happen?' and 'What are we going to do about it?'. If a Scorecard
does not have answers to the above-said questions, consider it as non-actionable.
Here is the difference between the Dashboard v/s Score-card. Many a times people
follow the same principle with scorecard as they do with the dashboards. Dashboard
are supposed to give a quick snap-shot of the current situation, and generally
don't contain any commentary. However scorecards are expected to go into more
detailed and insightful assessment of business.
At the same time, commentary should be very crisp, so that it does not eclipse
the significance of numbers. Verbosity and philosophy are the enemies and ruthless
summarization is a virtue here. No need to be grammatically correct and not
need to be diplomatic in your language. |
