Advertising a vacancy which has arisen or has been created to the community of existing employees is called Inside Job Posting. It is the preferred mode of recruitment for most of the positions. Existing employees must be given a chance at the position before an external search is made.

It is a good strategy that any new position or vacancy which arises must be first circulated internally. This is crucial in order to provide the current employees opportunities of growth in their career path and for them to stay engaged with the organization. Internal candidates must be invited and assessed for the said position before an external search is conducted. When a vacancy or a new position is advertized internally to the existing set of employees, it is called an Inside Job Posting. The strategy of offering the vacancy first to the existing employees has it’s own inherent advantages as discussed above. It also is more cost effective since the cost of advertising and associated recruitment expenses is not incurred if an internal candidate is found suitable for the position. Moreover, an hiring an internal candidate means that the performance required at the concerned position is less impacted since the replacement is faster. HR Departments of nearly all organizations follow this practice, with the key differentiator being the speed of execution of the hiring process. |
