This helps in sessions with middle managers more productive. This followed by interviews with middle management, helps to revalidate the outcomes of senior management interview and also may throw-up many new and more detailed facts.
In terms of senior management interviews as well as middle management interviews, one can be conscious of the sequence in which you will take the interviews. For example you may like to meet the CEO, CFO, and Head of businesses, before head of operations, Head of IT, Head of Marketing etc. This is again a sort of gradation within the senior management list in terms of internal customers and service provider functions. The interview process will be little iterative whereby you will have 1-2 interviews followed by mails and ad-hoc exchanges.
Typically your interview with the senior management, will be:
- Less structured,
- More open ended,
- Capturing soft aspects,
- Identifying priorities and issues
- Directions and focus on business themes
- key people to talk to for getting next level details.
The interviews with middle management will be going to the next level of details, whereby you will be
- Cross-validating the inputs you have picked up from your senior management interactions.
- Getting specific analytic, information and reporting requirements.
- Next level of issues and prioritize
