Focused Road-Map for People at cusp of 3 and Cusp of 2 |
The organization can organize special training and development programs for the employees receiving annual ratings at the cusp of 2 and the cusp of 3. With a little push and grooming, these employees have a significant chance of improving their performance.

Treatment of employees receiving ratings of 1, 4 & 5 is pretty straight-forward. However, in the final normalized ratings, we find that the number of employees getting these ratings is relatively much lower as compared to employees who are in the vast mainland between 2 & 3. This is where the majority lies. However, even within this mass, special attention needs to be paid to the ones who are at the cusp of 2 and the cusp of 3. This is applicable, if the company follows a rating system which allows fractional rating as well so the final rating can be a number with two decimal places. These employees can be put through a special training program to improve their skills and execution effectiveness. The reason this is done is due to the fact that they are very near to the next level of rating and they have already demonstrated the potential of better performance by reaching their current spot. Pushing them a little bit through learning and development can help them be better achievers and push them towards performance excellence. |
