Components of Enterprise Intelligence
This chapter goes into the details of each component of enterprise information and intelligence. The components include Data pipelines, Data Integration, Data Transformation, Information Generation, Information Publishing & Reporting and action & decision support systems.

Topics
Data Pipelines
Data pipelines represent the individual channels, one end of which is capturing the data in its most raw form and data travels through these pipes to the processing units, where it is sanitized, transformed and integrated. For a healthy enterprise intelligence, robust data pipelines are must. Having accurate and complete data from branches, outlets, agents, vendors and business partners is a significant challenge for an organization.

Data Integration
For leveraging enterprise wide information, data has to be integrated preferably into a common format, and representation. This leads to single view of the customer, products, vendors and channels. It gives a commonly agreed representation of the current state.

Data Transformation
Data needs to be transformed** in various ways so to standardize it, enrich it with derived data, augment it through extrapolations, format it with common codification, classify it through various tags and re-model it for better information generation.

Information Generation
After the preparation of data, so to make it information-ready, the success of enterprise intelligence is to extract the most relevant and actionable information out of it. Typically, that is the most prevalent failure point of an organizations sensory system. The information needs change with circumstances, and so do the business questions, which need to be answered. There are various end-user-tools** for information generation, and technically they are miles ahead of an organization capacity to use them.

Information Publishing and Reporting
The generated information has to be delivered to the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity and the right format. An end-user should be able to get all the information he needs in as few channels as possible, and should be able to figure out what he needs to know in shortest possible time.

Action and Decision Support Systems
As a user get the information needed, he has to interpret it, use it and take appropriate decision basis the same. A smart organization will have most of the expected actions and decisions for expected scenarios already thought through. This minimizes the lag time between an 'exception alert. The generated information has to be delivered to the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity and the right format. An end-user should be able to get all the information he needs in as few channels as possible, and should be able to figure out what he needs to know in shortest possible time. and the action to fix the exception.
