Now that Strategy Blueprint and the Strategic Business Plan (for the year) is in place, it is time to go to the employees and communicate the same while answering the following questions:
- What is our company strategy? How it is different from existing one?
- What is our unit Strategy? How it is different from existing one?
- What is our team goals and targets? How are they different from existing one?
This is a very important step in terms of getting the battalions and platoons to get committed to the cause. One has to create the right balance across the
- content
- the presentation
- the conduct
- harnessing emotional quotient etc and
- Pure mathematics and numbers.
The skew in this balance is purely driven by the organization culture.
As we communicate to different levels, one has to be careful on the balance between the strategic view and the operational targets. As we move down to the troops, operational targets take greater portion of the communications.
A typical communication flow will be as follows:
- CEO shares the overall strategy in town-hall, and the communication process.
- Communication packs are created by senior managers for their unit.
- Training is conducted for managers/leaders on how to communicate the strategy and business plan.
- The communication is done starting from top level down to the lowest level of troops.
