Capability to anticipate can be enforced as a process by having a section of "business assumptions track" in the periodic Execution Scorecard. An enterprise should select the top 5-10 business assumptions, which have the greatest sensitivity to the outcome of business results. The early warning signs of these assumptions need to be defined, and presented consistently with a 360 degree information & analysis on what is happening?, why is it happening?, what is expected to happen? And what should be done about it? The fundamental message is that anticipation, should not be left to the ad-hoc intelligence and on an individual initiative.
